Basic/Intermediate Electric Welding:

The aim of this course is to teach the trainee to set up and operate welding equipment safely, select the correct rods and weld mild steel for on-job repairs.

Basic Course Content:

  • Safety factors
  • Set up & operate a welding set
  • Select correct voltage, current and rod size
  • Create a strike and keep a good run
  • Show the difference in runs
  • Look for porosity
  • Recognise good/bad welding and how to correct

Intermediate Course Content:

  • Parts of Basic Content
  • Weld mild steel in flat, horizontal/vertical and overhead positions
  • Carry out butt, fillet, lap, closed and open corner welds
  • Ensure all welds show good starts and finishes, have adequate root penetration and no visible slag inclusion, and that they will pass visual inspection and a simple bending test(The above different positions will depend on time, and ability of trainee)

Course Length:

  • One/Two days depending on experience

 

MIG Welding :

This course will teach the trainee to set up and operate MIG welding equipment safely, explain its scope, select materials for use, and use the equipment accurately.

Course Content:

  • Introduction of Equipment
  • Machine Set up and Safe Use
  • Theory of MIG welding
  • Demonstration of welding
  • Practical Welding of common joints in mild steel

Course Length:

  • One Day

 

Gas Welding:

A one day course to teach the trainee how to set up and operate welding equipment safely, select the correct nozzles and pressures, select materials for use, and use the equipment to cut accurately.
